Cubist painter Mongkham Bualavanh is considered one of the most talented abstract artists in Laos. He combines strong colors and bold lines with the typical cubist approach by reducing natural forms into abstract structures.

As a cubist Mongkham is not interested in realism. He uses visual language to tell stories and show subjects from different perspectives. His paintings usually focus on the lives of hill tribe people or depict the changes in Lao society as it’s opening up to the outside world and modernizing.

Mongkham Bualavanh’s works have been exhibited throughout South-East Asia and can be found in many public and private collection around the world.

P Noy is a young self-taught artist from Luang Prabang. She started to paint in 2002, guided by her former husband Anousa, a famous artist. In recent years she herself has become one of the most sought-after painters in Laos, her artwork featuring in collections and exhibitions around the world.

P Noy mostly paints about the everyday life of Lao women, in oil on canvas. Her style combines a colourful, naïve expressionism with a hint of cubism. Over the years her work has become more and more intricate, rich in detail and depth.

Vunhuhai is a master in the lifelike portrayal of Budhist monks and common Lao people, capturing emotions like no other. He has a distinct realist style, characterized by his use of light and bright colored elements that contrast sharply with the darkened backgrounds.

The following years the talented painter made his name in the Vietnamese and international art scenes.
